Hand's Held High

Last week saw the 3DS press event that showed all the features that the 3DS had to ofter. Apart from the obvious addition of 3D the 3DS also has multiple cameras, web browser an analog stick and gyroscope technology. The 3DS graphics well outdo the Wii with Resident Evil looking nearly a good as both the x box and ps3 versions of the game and with the addition of 3DS will give a great a graphic experience if used right.

The price of the 3DS was also reveled at the press event with the standalone unit costing £220. Personally I think this price way to much money for a hand-held console but the price will know-doubt reduce after it release.

This week has seen the announcement of the new PSP which has been named the NGP (next generation portable).Like the 3DS the shape of the console has not change a great deal from the original PSP. One of the first thinks that you notice when first looking at the NGP, is the addition of a second analog stick something that many people believed the PSP needed.

The NGP also features an impressive array of specs these include a front facing OLED touch screen and back touch panel the NGP also features 3G for online gaming on the go.Graphics wise the NGP really impresses with a uncharted demo looking just a good as it's PS3 counterpart.

No price has been announced for the NGP but i suspect that it will cost more than the 3DS at launch and details of if you have to pay for the 3G function have not been given.

Overall both hand-held's are looking to be great potable gaming platforms will you be buying one and if so for what price?

Fan Made Flims

There's a good chance that on the internet at some time you would of seen a fps in real life video, these are usually just a few kids shooting at each other in a back garden, that are most of the time awful. In the last few month or so the adults have tried the hand at making there own fan made film with impressive results.

One of the most viewed of these is Fredview's "Future First Person Shooter" that basically just recreates a game on MW2's multilayer in real life

Another great live action video I wanted to share is the half life 2 inspired film "Beyond Black Mesa" it follows three survivors as the battle against the combine.

The last film is the most resent one but probably my favorite "Fallout: Nuka Break" is a sort story of three survivors in the fallout New Vegas wasteland as they do there best to survive.

Soundtracks!

Zelda has one of the most recognizable soundtracks.
All of the games we play today will have some kind off soundtrack whether it's the song we hear on the radio in GTA or music played from the ocarina in Zelda, music plays a big part in gaming. Much like in films music is used in gaming to warn of danger, heighten action and generally give atmosphere to a situation. There are many different gaming soundtracks that I like from Super Mario to Red Dead Redemption but one soundtrack I particular I like is the soundtrack for Driv3r.

Driv3r, mediocre game but great soundtrack.
Although the the game it self was far from perfect, the soundtrack contains array of great music that is unique to the soundtrack and can not be found elsewhere. I recommend that you listen to the soundtrack your self am sure there will be something on there you like.

Spring Gaming

Portal 2's tractor beam
There has been a lot of great games announced that have releases dates for this spring, from Pokemon to Crysis 2. One game in particular that is coming out this spring is a game that I have been looking forward to since it was announced that game is Portal 2. I loved the first Portal as the Portal gun took physics in gaming to a new level. Portal 2 is shaping up to be a great predecessor adding multiple elements such as gels that allow you to bounce when you land on them and tractor beam rays that carry thing though the air, all if which can travel though portals. The adding of a co-op feature is just the icing on the nonexistent cake for me.

Brink's mutiplayer better than CoD?
Another game that I and looking forward to this spring is brink, the game is looking to be something between mirrors edge and Call of Duty with the latest mutiplayer trailer showing off game-play of first person free running, gun customization and just general fps action, all this should make for some great online game-play, hopefully.

What Games are you looking forward to this spring?

Garry's Mod Machinima!

Garry's mod is a game that I never really got to grips with, things that looked easily done on the internet but took me ages to complete in-game. Garry's mod is known for a great platform for machinima as just about everything is possible. Most of the machinima that is made in Garry's Mod is funny but there are also some more serious films that are also great.

Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas is a game that started very slow for me, so slow in fact that I stop playing it for a while. I got bored of just walking around the wasteland just looking for quests and leveling up my character so i could just complete a the few quests I had found.

I decided to come back to the game for a fresh start I managed to level up to a level where I could complete some of the quests that I had started.By completing the quest I gained more xp and unlocked different quest to complete. Now am around level 20 and thoroughly enjoying the game.

My advice to you if your having trouble enjoying the game is to persist with it and you will eventually get to a stage where you will start to enjoy the game.
